Tobias Cantz, MD, associate professor for ‘Translational Hepatology and Stem Cell Biology’ in the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology of Hannover Medical School is executive board member of the ‘REBIRTH Center for Translational Regenerative Medicine’, and head of the work group ‘ethical, legal, and social aspects’ of the German Stem Cell Network. Research of T. Cantz focuses on induced pluripotent stem cells, and their differentiation into hepatic and biliary derivatives, development of iPSC-based disease models and gene engineering approaches, as well as exploring cellular engineering and transplantation approaches as therapeutic strategy.
