Ulrich Martin, PhD, is full professor for ‘Cardiorespiratory Tissue Engineering’, head of the Leibniz Research Laboratories for Biotechnology and Artificial Organs (LEBAO) and director of research of the Clinic for Cardiothoracic-, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery at Hannover Medical School (MHH). Research of Prof. Martin basically focuses on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), their differentiation into cardiovascular and respiratory lineages and genetic engineering. U. Martin has a strong translational focus aiming at the development and conduction of hiPSC-based cell culture systems, drug screens and cellular therapies, including development of GMP-compliant cell production technologies and risk assessment.
