Dr. Stylianos Michalakis is Professor of Ocular Gene Therapy at the Department of Ophthalmology, LMU Munich. His research focuses on the development of next-generation gene therapy approaches for the treatment of inherited and acquired ocular diseases. This includes basic research on the biology of ocular diseases and the engineering / development of AAV vectors. He has contributed to several translational AAV gene therapy programs currently in preclinical or clinical phases.
