Claudio Mussolino

Dr. Claudio Mussolino is group leader at the Institute for Transfusion Medicine and Gene Therapy at the University Medical Center Freiburg, (Germany). His research focuses on the establishment of novel strategies to edit the genome or the epigenome of hematopoietic cells. Using TALE- or CRISPR-based effectors, Dr. Mussolino explores their use for the treatment of chronic and acquired immunodeficiencies as well as cancer. His group has pioneered the development of epigenome editors highlighting the potential of this technology to establish novel therapeutics to fight infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
