Winfried Wels has more than thirty years of experience in cancer immunotherapy and cancer gene therapy. His group pioneered approaches to enhance the therapeutic utility of natural killer cells by expression of chimeric antigen receptors targeting various tumor-associated antigens. He is currently Deputy Director and a member of the Executive Board of Georg-Speyer-Haus, Institute for Tumor Biology and Experimental Therapy in Frankfurt, and a Professor for Tumor Biology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Frankfurt.
